11 months old!

I always feel bad when a month has gone by and I haven't been on here! To start, when we took Ethan back to the doctor to get his ears looked at again his infection was gone woo hoo! We had wanted to ask the doctor about his teeth but she was in such a hurry that we didn't get to. Everyone has something different to say about when he should see a dentist. Right away or when he is 3. I want to go soon because for one, he has an ity bity chip on his front tooth, and he seems to grind his teeth so I am wondering if that is what caused it. And two, his top two teeth seem a tad dark, not like they are rotting or anything like that, it just seems like they're a bit darker and I am not sure why. I am a little ocd about people's teeth so that may have to do with why I am so concerned. Ethan also throws the biggest tantrums when I try to brush his teeth so that worries me a bit too. I want his teeth clean but it's hard to brush them when he fights me! I basically have to pin his fussbutt down and clean them by force, which makes me feel bad, but it's for his own good!! Anyway! I hate that I wait this long to write on here because then I forget everything that has happened this month! One thing we did was go to Jungle Java! Jungle Java is kind of like chuckecheese but they have a toddler area and serve healthier food. Nick and I took Ethan and a girl a know brought her son so they could have a play date! Ethan had a great time! He climbed up the playscape part like a little champ! He was a bit scared of the slide though haha. The little stinker also stole another boy's chair! Ethan was dragging chairs all over the place in the toddler area and even tried to take one up into the playscape! He then decided that the only chair he wanted was the ONE that a boy was sitting on. Ethan was literally pulling the chair around with the boy still on it! At one point the little boy went to adjust himself in his seat and lifted up a bit and Ethan took the chance to pull that chair right from under him and ran off with it!! Such a stinker. Another thing I noticed was how big Ethan is compared to the other kids! At Ethan's last appointment he weighed 25 pounds (a pound more than he weighed at his appointment 2 weeks earlier!). I am not sure of his height since they only take that at his actual checkups, but he was in the 96 percentile for height. Ethan towered over the other kids in the play area! Ethan the boy he took the chair from, who was 1 1/2 if I remember correctly! Ethan's going to be a big boy that's for sure!! Today we took Ethan to get photos done for Christmas (and just to have pictures of him at age 1..or close enough to being 1 ha) and he was a little monster!! He did NOT want his picture taken. He whined and cried and reached out to us! He would walk away from the props and follow me until I picked him up! I felt bad for him and the photographer!! We ended up rescheduling so hopefully when we go back he behaves for us!! Alicia (the photographer) takes such good photos, I would hate for him to be bad again and end up with nothing!! I feel like I am forgetting soo much that I wanted to write about..hmmm..OH! Ethan got his first boo boo that bled this month :( Ethan was running around after his bath and slipped in the bathroom and hit his mouth on the toilet! I was freaking out because he cried soo much and he was bleeding in his mouth and I had no clue what it was coming from, if he lost a tooth, etc. Luckily it quickly stopped and I could see that his tooth had just cut his lip. He handled it like a big boy and is all better now!! Speaking of teeth, Ethan has another tooth coming in on the left side of his center bottom one! He has been sleeping a lot, been grumpy, and hasn't wanted to eat so I think that may be why. He also is just really picky in general about what he eats now. One day he loves something and the next day he won't go near it! Silly kid! One thing that little stinker has started to do is decide to pee right when I get him out of the bath. I took him out one day and he ran out of the bathroom into the hallway and peed on the wall!! The next day when he got out of the tub he squatted down and peed on the bathroom rug! He hasn't done it since then but I have been keeping good watch on him to make sure he doesn't! Well I think I rambled enough for now, I am sure a bit after I post this I will think of things I forgot to write about like always.

Sick :(

My poor little man has been sick :( What started off as a runny nose turned into a hoarse voice, coughing, sneezing, sleeping all day, not eating and "pink eye". When he took Ethan to the doctor we found out that he did not actually have pink eye, his body was just trying to "get rid of his sickness through his eye" or something weird like that. We also found out that he most likely has seasonal allergies, his throat was red (the doctor mentioned strep throat but never specifically said that's what he had, but I imagine her talking about it means that was it), and an ear infection. I felt so bad about the ear infection! He hadn't been pulling at his ears or anything so I didn't know. I got them all the time as a child and I know how painful it was, so it makes me sad that he is going through it. He is on antibiotics now and we have to go back to the doctors in two weeks..well closer to one now, so they can check on his ear infection. He is pulling at his ears now, which makes me think that it's worse rather than better :( Poor thing. Also, at his appointment he weighed 24 pounds (didn't take his height) which means he gained a whole pound since his 9 month appointment! This kid is a beast! I can't wait to see what he weighs in a week. I mean it's unlikely that it will be much different but who knows with this kid. Despite being sick, some good things have happened too! Less than a week ago Ethan decided that he was ready to start walking! It's the cutest thing ever! He still is working on it but he's getting really good! He doesn't really fall down, he will walk a bit and then put his hands on the ground with his little butt up in the air and then stand up again and keep walking. So silly. He falls when he tries to go fast though, he seems to think that he can run around already. Watching him try to run is so cute! It's not even really running, more like this quick short steps he takes haha. Love it. It's even cuter watching him try to walk in the kitchen with socks on. He slips and slides all over the place. Ethan is also pointing at things now, which I love because I have a better idea of what he wants! He is constantly pointing at the pictures of himself on the wall, he gets soo excited when he sees them. One lovely new thing Ethan has started doing is going in the cupboards. I have been dreading this day haha. We have the cupboard lock things but I have no freaking clue how to install them SOMEONE COME HELP ME! Ethan is also starting to actually wave bye now. It probably seems weird that he is just doing this because most babies already do. Ethan has known how to wave, he is just very selective as to what he waves at, he prefers the tv, when I turn it off. But recently, like today for example, I said "Ethan, see those cars? Say buh bye to the cars" and he waved. I was impressed! Oh boy..he is crying in his crib right now. I sure hope he falls back asleep because I do not want him up all night! Especially since Nick gets up at 5 for work, when he isn't off of his other job until midnight. Ethan always pulls this crap. Sleeps at like 10 and then wakes up an hour later and refuses to go back to sleep. A 10oclock nap just doesn't work. I try to leave him in there but he will get to the point that he gets so mad he starts coughing and choking and will throw up on himself! I just don't know what to do with him. The doctor said just let him do it but I can't! I feel bad, so if anyone reads this and has some advice please tell me!! Well I am done writing because I can't focus with him screaming!

9 months!

This is titled 9 months, but really in a week Ethan will be 10 months old! He's such a big boy!! I always neglect this poor blog because Ethan keeps me busy all day. I can never remember what is new since the last time I posted on here. Well to start, at Ethan's 9 month check up he weighed 23 pounds and was 30 inches tall. Apparently he is in the 75 percentile for weight and the 96 for height. Doctor Poston said "He's going to be a beast, sign him up for football now". Last time we saw Poston was to check on Ethan's little bump on his chest that was infected. We had to wait about an hour and Poston wasn't very friendly. He was my doctor was I was pretty surprised by how he acted. When we saw him this time he was much more friendly, so hopefully things stay good! One thing that was annoying about the appointment was that I called and made the appointment a little over a week before we were supposed to go, when we showed up they didn't have the appointment on file but they "fit us in". I was not too happy that they some how forgot to put the appointment in the books! Not cool. Ethan is standing on his own now and will sometimes stand and dance to music which is adorable. He shakes his little booty and bounces up and down. Ethan gets into everything now. He can perfectly get up on the couch now and tries grabbing everything off of the side table. We have cleaned up a lot and put tons of stuff up yet he still gets into what is still around. He loves to pull his books/dvds off the shelf and just leave them there, and as soon as I pick them up he takes them right down. He also has a box with diapers, wipes, etc (with some paper books hidden at the bottom) and he will take every single thing out and throw it over his shoulder until he reaches those books! He wants to rip them up so much! Ethan gets around so much faster now too. He loves to crawl away real fast when we try to grab him, it's like we're playing tag. He also loves to get Nick's shoes, so when Nick puts them on Ethan will follow him everywhere he goes chasing his feet. The cutest thing that Ethan has learned to do is share! He loves to offer me the toy he is playing with or the food he is eating. It's funny because when it comes to his favorite snacks, he will hold them out to me and when I got to grab it he hurries and puts it in his mouth! He's like nope I changed my mind mom, this is mine! To make up for taking the food from me, he will take little broken crumb pieces and give them to me haha. Ethan also loves to cuddle animals now. He will lay his head down on the cats and on Nick's mom's dogs. He gets so excited to cuddle animals! The little stinker will not say mama anymore! Ethan just loves saying dada! Almost every time I ask him to say something he just says dada! When I ask him to say mama he says bubba! He will look at my lips when I say it but bubba comes out of his mouth! He used to say mama all the time so I'm not sure what changed. I guess he just doesn't want to say it anymore! Ethan is cruising all over the place so he will probably be walking soon! Who knows! I can't imagine how much more he will get into once he walks. Hopefully once he walks I won't have to carry him around as much, which I will love because he's heavy! Well that is all I can think of right now but if more comes to mind I will try making time to get on here and write again asap!

This post probably won't be very long because Ethan is napping so I want to write this quick. Ethan is quite the adventurous little thing these days. He climbs on everything. His walker, the couch, his chair, pretty much anything he can get on to he does. He also can climb the stairs and loves to do it. He thinks it is a game. He will go up a couple stairs and just sit there and when I go to grab him he hurries and crawls up to the top and laughs about it. He is a stinker. We keep the gate up most of the time, but occasionally we let him have his fun on the stairs. He is a brave little guy! He tried going down the stairs head first! That could have been bad! He doesn't realize he just just scoot his little butt down backwards. Ethan also thinks he needs to play with every single thing he finds now. He will sit on the floor and pick up every little fuzz he can find. Surprisingly he normally doesn't try to eat random things. If he sees a dropped puff or a crumb of food though he will go for it. I find is funny he knows the difference between edible things and random gunk on the ground. Not that he should be eating stuff off the floor, but if he were to when I wasn't watching to take it from him, at least I know he probably isn't eating something awful. The little monster's two front top teeth are coming in now so he thinks it's a good idea to randomly bite people. He will act all cute and come up to you and then just bite your arm, knee, toe - really anything he can get at. He's something that kid. He also bites when he is mad. I tried getting his hoodie on him one day and he kept biting my arms when I touched him! Stinker!! Hmm what else is new in the life of Ethan??? He is cruising now, I believe that is what it's called. He holds onto the couch and walks from one side to the other. He can also stand for a few seconds on his own too. When Nick holds his hands he will walk with Nick but for some reason Ethan refuses to walk with me. I guess Nick is responsible for teaching him to walk. Ethan can drink out of a straw now too! A BABY straw, that comes out slowly. When I was buying the cup with the straw the cashier decided to question my parenting and told me I shouldn't be allowing him to drink out of a straw until he is a year old and continued to "ask" Ethan "Are they good parents?". I could kill a bitch. The package specifically says 9+ months. Ethan will be 9 months. It's not like I am giving a newborn a straw damn. Also, I bought another straw cup today that says 4-12 months so suck on that meijer worker. ANYWAY Ethan just didn't like his sippy cup. He does NOT want to lift his head up to drink it and would always put his head down to the cup, so I figured the straw would work better. I will still use the other cups because he needs practice but it's good for him to learn to use a straw too. Welll..that is all of the news I can think of at the moment. This ended up being a lot longer than I expected...

This post isn't going to be long at all. Ethan can say bubba, mama, and dada now! WOO HOO! Go Ethan! I will make sure to get on here once more has happened with him. Nothing too exciting has happened recently besides his attempt to talk otherwise I would write more.

I should really start posting on here more than once a month. I just never have the time to get one! Every time I touch the computer Ethan goes nuts. Anyway! I should really read the last blog I wrote before writing a new one because I can never remember what I've already wrote about. Well for one, Ethan has two teeth now! He loves to bite too! Obviously we went to his 6 month appointment already. Once again the doctor will not give him the dang medicine for his reflux. It's getting really annoying! Ethan chokes on a lot of things and he shouldn't have to deal with it. One good thing is that his hernia is gone. While we were at his appointment the doctor looked at his chest to check out the white bump and said it was just a skin tag or a cyst but she said it's fine. Well about a week after we saw the doctor the white bump got swollen and red. Then it got a white bump on top of the red and popped! We headed back to the doctor to get him looked at yet again just for another doctor to say he doesn't know what it is but it's infected. Ethan is on antibiotics right now and it's not so red anymore but hasn't went away. We were hoping with the medicine the bump would completely go away but it seems like it's just going to go back to how it was before. I'll have to have the doctor take another look at his 9 month appointment and see if the opinion on what the bump is has changed. Oh! At Ethan's first appointment he weighed 20 pounds and his 28 inches tall. When we went back he weighed 21 pounds! I think he gained weight so fast because before we saw the doctor Ethan was only eating 2 containers of food a lot of the time. She told us to start giving him 3 and just to give him bottles between meals and at bed. Most of the time this works, but some times Ethan refuses to eat so he just ends up with more bottles that day. Other times he will eat tons at a time! Today for lunch he had almost 2 containers of food and some baby yogurt! Ethan is starting to use a sippee cup now too! At first he would hold the cup and just chew on them but now he realized how to drink out of them. The only problem is he hasn't figured out he needs to hold his head back to drink. He leans down to his cup and sucks on it thinking it will just come out. He will drink from the sippee if I hold it for him, because then he puts his head back. He is a silly boy. He'll get it eventually. OH! Ethan is crawling now too! We were convinced he wasn't going to crawl! Ethan seemed to just want to start walking but then suddenly one day he really wanted to get the cat and away he went! Now he crawls all over the place. He will crawl to the side of the couch and I stay in front of it and we play peek a boo! He will get super excited and eventually end up crawling over to me :) It's super sad when Nick goes to work though because Ethan crawls over to the door and tries to follow him out and then cries when he's gone :(. Poor baby doesn't want his dada to leave him. For the most part Ethan just stays in the living room, unless one of us or the cats goes into the kitchen and then he will crawl in there a bit but ends up turning back around. He tried eating cat food off the floor in there the other day so we bought a baby gate. Unfortunately I didn't measure it first and the gate isn't long enough! It stretches from 26 to like 40 some inches I think but apparently we have really wide doorways. I guess I'll have to get another gate and use that one somewhere else. Ethan is constantly climbing all over everything too. He was doing that before but now he does it a lot more. If I lay on the floor he climbs over me, he tries to pull himself onto the couch etc. Hmm what else. He eats snack foods now. He has gerber puffs and lil crunchies (the cheeto things). For the most part he does a pretty good job eating them but once in a while he just starts choking out of no where. He won't have a big piece or anything, it's just the reflux acting up. Actually the other day I was with my brother who wanted to go take Ethan to see my dad for lunch. As everyone knows I am not a fan of my father but Alex seems to really want Ethan to see him so I've given in a bit. Ethan was eating some of his cheetos and of course started coughing and my dads LOVELY girlfriend freaked out and said he was choking, which he, in fact, was not. Later on Ethan did it again in which my dad gave me a dirty look and told me to pay more attention to him. I can't stand that man. Who is he to say anything about MY parenting? I didn't choke him. His reflux did. I was also told by my father that I was tickling Ethan too much. How can you tickle a baby too much? He loved it. Bill is dumb. Sorry about that mini rant. I just can't stand people making comments about how I should raise MY son. I'm the one with him 24-7. I think I know a little better than everyone else about what I should and shouldn't do with him. Bla. I have taken Ethan out to eat a few times recently and for the most part he has been excellent! He behaves in the highchair and plays with his toys. He doesn't behave in his stroller though! I brought him to the mall and he was throwing a fit. I took him out and put him in his carrier and he didn't want that either. He would only stop screaming if I actually held him. Then I held him and he wanted to sleep. I put him in his stroller and gave him a bottle and he passed out. That didn't last long because he wanted to roll onto his tummy but he was buckled in and couldn't so he started crying again! I ended up having to hold him while he slept so he wouldn't scream. I wish I could have just left but my friend was still shopping :/ On the plus side he does pretty well in shopping carts now! Woo hoo! Also we installed Ethan's big boy carseat in the truck. I need to buy another cheap one though for when I'm with other people! Those things are so difficult to put in though (at least the one we have is). Hopefully it won't be too hard when I try putting it in other people's vehicles. Ethan is sleeping through the night for the most part now too!! At his appointment the doctor asked if he was sleeping through the night yet and he wasn't. She said we needed to let him cry it out because at his age he shouldn't rely on a bottle to go back to sleep and should be sleeping all night. After a few rough nights Ethan starting sleeping all night! He doesn't like to sleep until like 1 am and likes to wake up at 7:30 but it's better than him waking up every couple hours! Recently Ethan has been waking up around 4-5 am every day and refusing to fall back asleep unless we get him. That kind of sucks. We try letting him just cry and go back to sleep but he won't! Oh well, with time he will get better at it. Anyway I can't think of anything else at the moment but I'll post again once I have more fun stuff to say!

Teeth!

Little Ethan is getting so big!! Today his first tooth finally cut through! Well..yesterday since it's past midnight. The day before that he said bubu for the first time! His first word..sorta. Not mama or dada. bubu. He has an appointment for his 6 month shots in a week and I'm stoked! I am glad he will be going to a new doctor because the old one sucked. Ethan has bad acid reflux and needs to get on medicine. The old doctor WOULD NOT put him on for some reason. She did not care that he can't even drink water..or juice..(or even eat apples now that he eats fruit, because they sting his throat) because he chokes on it. Besides finally getting him on reflux medicine, we also need to have his doctor check out his belly button. Before we were told he had a belly button hernia so I want to know if it went away. His belly button doesn't stick out anymore so I hope that means it's gone. Ethan also has this little pimple looking think on his boobie I want the doctor to check out. I looked it up online and it seems like it's this thing that shows up from my hormones being in his body and would fall off on it's own after a few months. I know it's been a couple months and it's still there so obviously I want the doctor to see it! Anyway..what else is new in the life of Ethan? Um..well he eats fruits now! I don't recall if he did in the last post. He currently has had apples (but we stopped because they bugged him), bananas, pears, and mangoes. I think that's about it. He still has peaches and prunes to try! Well he has mixed fruit too but that waits. Oh! Because Ethan can sit up now he can take baths in the big tub! He only has twice though because it scares me. Sometimes after his bath before I take him out I put him in the big tub to play for a second. He likes the drain. He will be crawling soon too!! He gets up on his knees and rocks back and forth like he's getting ready to take off haha. He just ends up plopping down or scoots backwards. He hasn't quite figured out how to move forward yet. Ethan can stand now too when he holds on to things! Before he could stand with my fingers but now he can hold the couch or tables and stand! He likes to try to steal things! Another cute thing he does now is climbs on us! He can't crawl but if he is sitting and wants me or nick he will lean forward and grab on to whoever and pull himself on our laps! He also will go the same sort of thing where he grabs onto us but then he just gets on his knees so he's half standing and hangs out like that. He's so cute!! I will have to try to get some new pictures/videos. He is growing up so fast but with his teeth coming in he is always grumpy! It's hard to try to take pictures when he is throws fits. Other than all that I can't think of much else that's new with him. He sits in the actual cart now at stores! Well sometimes. Most of the time he throws a fit until we hold him. He's getting too big for his baby car seat now! He have the new one all ready to install in the truck. He never really sleeps when we go out places now anyway so the newborn car seat isn't much of a help now. We took Ethan to the Wyandotte art fair today!! He behaved very well for the most part. He just hung out in his stroller and checked things out (that's new too! he used to hate the stroller.) We also booked a date to get pictures taken in December. I wanted to get 1 year pictures done but we could only book until December so that's what we went with. Well I'm done rambling for now! I'll try to post again soon!

I guess this is growing up

Ahh! My little boy is getting to be a big boy! Last time I posted on here Ethan had only rolled over a few times I believe. Now he rolls over all the time! He even tries rolling over in situations when he shouldn't..like in the bathtub haha. He's silly. He doesn't realize he would get hurt doing that! But I watch him like a hawk so he's allll good! Not only is Ethan rolling over now but he can sit up on his own too! He hasn't managed to learn how to keep his weight balanced so he can reach down for toys yet but he does great just sitting there. He took advantage of the fact that he can sit today and sat there, grabbed his feet, and pushed down to try to help him poop haha. He's so funny! I vacuumed today then moved the coffee table off to the side of the room to give Ethan space to play. Sebastian happen to walk on by while Ethan was laying on the floor and he lifted himself up to his knees to try to crawl towards the cat!!! He scoots on the ground all the time, he just kinda drags his legs, but today was the first time he got up on his knees! Go Ethan! My baby will be crawling in no time! He is eating veggies now too! I don't know if that was in the last post..but oh well. He is working on carrots at the moment. He has had cereal, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes and carrots! Yay Ethan!! I think his favorite so far has been the green beans. Maybe that's just because it was his first solid food so he got extra excited. Who knows. My poor baby is sick though! Well sick or has allergies. He seems a lot better today though. Two days ago he has a bad runny nose and coughed a bit. Yesterday he had a stuffy nose and runny eyes. Today he has a bit of a stuffy nose but that's it. It seems like allergies which sucks:( I actually am sick though! boo! It stinks that I don't have a babysitter because I don't want to get Ethan sick, plus I don't have the energy to play. Luckily for me, he was good and jumped for a while in his jumper so I could vacuum! Well anyway, enough ranting. I need to shower while Ethan naps!!

Still Breathing

Well here I go...I don't know how much I can really get written before Ethan gets too grumpy for Nick to handle alone. He has been behaving for a while and as soon as I start to type he decides to start whining ahah. Ethan woke up from 9:30ish this morning (to stay up, he woke up lots of times in the night like always) but he laid on the couch with me for a while before he got antsy and wanted up. He gets in moods where he doesn't want to do anything at all but whine because his teeth coming in are hurting him. He just tries to stick his entire fist in his mouth which always leads to him choking himself. Poor dude. First he chokes eating his bottle because of his reflux and now he chokes because his little teethers are hurting him. Hopefully it gets easier for him once they start coming in, maybe then he will be in a better mood and want to play more. Anyway...back to this morning. So he got in his "i don't want to do anything but whine" mood so I gave him a bath, the one thing that makes him stop crying no matter what. He loves water. Sometimes when he just won't stop crying we go in the kitchen and he sits his little butt on the counter and hangs his feet in the sink. I keep the water running and put the plug in so he can kick his feet in it. That keeps him entertained for a while. I keep going off on these side notes and forget what I was writing to begin with. If anyone actually reads this (Obviously you Julie) it will probably get annoying because I can't stick to one topic. I'm probably slightly A.D.D. Okay soooo he took a bath and then we played on his mat and with all his other toys (he gets bored easily) until Nick woke up. We went to take back our movies to blockbuster and he napped. Nothing really exciting happened after that. We came home, he slept, woke up, played, napped so on. Later on Nick and his friend Donny played putt putt golf and Ethan and I watched. He was being good until it started to rain, then he didn't want to be in his stroller anymore. He was super happy once I took him out and lugged him around with me. I forgot his snugli carrier thing at home so I had to carrier the chunk around with me the rest of the time we were there. Now we are sitting at home and Ethan is jumping away in his jumper. He is starting to get a bit whiny so either he will start screaming because he wants out or he will lay his head down and try to nap. He is silly and always jumps until hes tired and just plops his head down to sleep. When I go to take him out to nap somewhere else he wakes up and starts jumping again right away like he wasn't asleep :) He is so cute. It's weird because he changes sooo much but I'm always with him so I don't really notice. Alicia stopped by yesterday and said he wasn't so smiley last time she was here and that was only a couple weeks ago. It's like he gets more of a personality every day and I love it! He has only rolled over a couple times now, I think his big ole head makes it hard. I wish he would roll over more! He also hates tummy time. I swear that huge head must be heavy to lift ha. His belly button hernia might bother him on his tummy too. I don't know if it hurts him or not. His belly button doesn't stick out anymore but you can tell it's still there. Oh and Ethan is getting really good at sitting up! He holds his toes and can stay up for a long time. He loves standing too. He held my hands and stood for like 5 minutes a few days ago! He's such a big boy! Well he is starting to whine so I'm done rambling....
